Brewery d'Achouffe

The story begins in the late 1970s, in the heart of the Valley of the Fairies. There, two brothers-in-law, Pierre Gobron and Chris Bauweraerts, decide to brew their own beer. Not in a large brewery, but simply in the garage of Chris’ mother-in-law.

With few resources, but all the more enthusiasm, they lay the foundation for what brewery fans today call the “Chouffe Story.” On August 27, 1982, their first brew of 49 liters sees the light of day.

A visit to the Achouffe brewery lasts a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes and consists of two parts:

  • 45 minutes tour
A journey through the world of gnomes and the story behind our brewery.
  • 45 minutes tasting
A tasting of our excellent beers in the Auberge des Lutins.

As a conclusion, you will also receive a small souvenir.

Le Hérou – Nadrin

Le Hérou is one of the most impressive natural spots around Nadrin. The steep rock walls, wooded slopes, and winding Ourthe create a rugged and almost mysterious landscape.

The site also has a special history: Victor Hugo visited the site in 1862, after which Le Hérou was classified in 1937 and later recognized as exceptional natural heritage of Wallonia due to its unique landscape value. The rock massif extends over approximately 1.5 km along the Ourthe and offers spectacular views of the valley and its wooded meanders.

Today, Le Hérou is especially popular with hikers. The paths are sometimes challenging and steep, but are rewarded with some of the most beautiful panoramas of the Ardennes. The area is also part of a protected natural environment, which helps to preserve the wild and authentic atmosphere.

The Caves of Han

The Caves of Han take you to one of the most extraordinary natural wonders of Belgium. In the heart of the Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark, the first UNESCO Global Geopark in the country, you descend into an impressive underground world of halls, galleries, and ancient stalactite formations.

The cave was formed by the Lesse River, which carved its way through the limestone massif. Today, you can discover spectacular geological treasures, beautifully illuminated with respect for the natural surroundings. It is no wonder that the Cave of Han received 3 stars in the Green Michelin Guide and has attracted over 23 million visitors.

A visit to the Caves of Han is more than just a walk underground. It is a journey to the heart of the earth, where nature, history, and wonder come together in one of the most iconic places in the Ardennes.

Walking or Cycling Route

RAVeL Bastogne Line 164

The RAVeL Line 164 from Bastogne is a beautiful cycling route along the old railway line towards Luxembourg. From Bastogne, you follow a quiet, green route that alternates between forests, meadows, and open landscapes. Along the way, you discover the valley of the Wiltz, a river that constantly changes character: sometimes wild and playful, then calm and gently winding through the landscape.

The route owes its special charm to the many small bridges, wooden walkways, and especially the four illuminated tunnels of the former railway. These give the trip an almost adventurous character, without losing its accessible and relaxed atmosphere.

After about 9 kilometers, you leave Belgium at Benonchamps and cycle into the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. There, the route connects to the cycling path PC 20 de la Wiltz, which leads you further through the landscape. After about 10 kilometers, you reach the final destination, at an altitude of 318 meters.

An ideal trip for those who love nature, tranquility, and a touch of railway history, with new views and landscapes along the way.
